Batman: The Long Halloween (2021) Review

It's gonna be a long Halloween. Written and released between 1996 & 1997 Batman The Long Halloween became a legendary story in DC's Batman comics, this graphic novel would win among other novels New York's Times Best Selling Title.

It's Halloween night and Jonny Viti, a man willing to testify against head of "The Roman" crime family Carmine Falcone has been murdered. Batman must figure out the identity of the unknown killer the news is calling "Holiday" before the holidays are ruined on this killer's Spree of murders.

I first got this film's comic a week before the trailer hit online so I waited for this film's release. I preordered my own steel-book copy Wednesday a week before it's release, I'm glad to have it sit on my shelf.

First this movie was a great film, reasons are!

Jensen Ackles honestly took me in shock with his voice performance as Batman. I honestly have to say I'd love to see a live action TV series with this guy as Batman, he's such a great action film performer an he's really good at having Batman's attitude and voice in my opinion. Jensen Ackles is known for his role as Dean Winchester in Supernatural (2005-2020) Brother to Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki), Supernatural tells of two brothers that lost their mother to something inhuman, they grow up with their father who teaches them how to hunt the supernatural and defend themselves.

Josh Duhamel was spectacular voicing Harvey Dent. Duhamel plays a great Harvey Dent voice and I'm excited to see him voice the other side of Harvey. Duhamel playing in Transformers 1,2,3 and 5 as William Lennox was nominated teen choice award. This isn't Duhamel's first voice role as he voiced characters in TV in The Replacement's (2008) as himself, Fanboy & Chum Chum (2009-2012) as Oz, and Captain Flynn in Jake and the Neverland Pirates (2012-2015).

Troy Baker takes the role Joker again. Troy Baker is such an incredible choice for this film as he picks up Mark Hamill's Joker voice, Baker voiced joker in Batman Arkham Origins (2013) and feature film Batman Assault on Arkham (2014). Baker has been a voice actor in many anime's such as Naruto (2008) and Pain Yamato in Naruto Shippuden (2009-2014). Baker is really talented as Joker taking up on Hamills take on Joker.

This film had a masterpiece when it comes to animation. Characters aren't exactly pinpoint to their comic design but that's I think interesting part, changing art design from the comic. The animation to me felt I was going through the same pace reading the comic.

Dialogue was take quote to quote, word to word. This film has the exact same pieces of dialogue said per comic strip, some dialogue was ripped out as this is a two part film from the thick book.

Was this film accurate strip to strip transferred to film? NO!!!

I loved this film but I still have to Give at least a 7/10 or 8/10. Why? Well I sadly have to admit this film treated such a fantastic comic a poor treatment. Some scenes were definitely not matching the comic and some characters weren't exactly depicted spot on from the comic. Design was spot on but sadly there was replacement in some characters, Jim Gordon has a daughter in comic in Film he has two children one daughter and a son.

Another flaw was a flaw for fans of the comic that learned this film was 2 parts instead of one whole film taking page for page from the comic.

If your hesitating to own this film. Don't cause I enjoyed this movie through it's small flaws.
