Venom (2018) Review

Failed reporter Eddie Brock loses his job and his girlfriend after an interview with Carlton Drake. Eddie gets bonded with an alien symbiote after looking for evidence against Drake, now it's up to Brock and his symbiote Venom to save the world.

Okay first off such a spectacular way of giving this beloved Marvel character a film treatment. Ruben Fleischer really executed this film as it's not connected to the Spider-Man films, Ruben did so well giving this character a brand new take with story and origin.

Tom Hardy was such an amazing choice to play this role. Hardy is really good at playing characters weather it's Hero or Villain, him playing Eddie Brock was well done as Brock can be either interpreted as either a total loser that loss his job or as a real jerk with other people. Hardy's take on Venom was executed as he made his Venom funny and scary Hardy didn't play the character using only his body movement's he used his voice as well as he used his vocals with a bit of help with sound technology.

Small detail problem but one that makes sense is Venoms symbol. In the comics Venoms origins starts with Spider-Man #252 (1984) as he was an alien costume that was attached to Spider-Man this ends up infecting Peter Parker slowly turning Parker angry and evil, Parker decides to tear off the symbiote which picks a new host this being Eddie Brock. another detail missing here is in the comics due to the symbiote adapting some altered features from Spider-Man's suit. when Eddie Brock became the host his costume took Spider-Man's symbol, like I said before small missing details but they do make sense as this universe has no Spider-Man.

I love this film gives a funny picture to this character instead of a serious tone to it. I think of venom for what he is in the comics I don’t think I can take him as a funny character and I love the character has a different tone.

I hate that they didn’t do too much for the final battle it seemed too quick and an easy villain. Riot/Carlton Drake had the best design for a villain but his fight was quick and done.

I also didn’t like the way they treat Eddie Brock they make him weak and tho it makes sense as Venom makes him strong still they don’t make him embrace too much of the symbiote instead he fears it most of the film.

Other than that I’m in love with this film and I’m excited for Carnage in the upcoming film.

WE ARE VENOM!!!
